So a user called up and said that he had moved offices and was just trying to get set up at the new location on a computer that was already there. Common occurrence. I remoted in and set him up just fine. At that point, he asks if his second monitor will start working. I scan, and don’t detect one. This is where he mentions that the fingers on the monitor cable were not all straight, and could I just straighten them over the remote connection.
Fingers? Monitor cable? OK…
I walk over there with a few replacement cables (since I’m not sure what he’s talking about). When I arrive at his office I see the sad remains of a DP cable hanging off from the back of the computer. The end had been ripped to pieces somehow. And he was wondering why the display wouldn’t work…
I think the best part is asking if you could straighten them remotely. THAT would be impressive!
Wow, that is really something.
