Went to a user’s house earlier today because she said she was having issues with $ISP, and being unable to get into her email. After about ten seconds, I quickly realized her problem. She had no borking clue what she was doing. Instead of typing in her password, she was literally putting in her email address into the password field. I had to listen to her go on for ten minutes about how she was so frustrated with $ISP’s support and was on the phone with them for 3 days. Finally, she found what her password was for her email and let me type in. Well gee golly gosh darnit, I got right in to her email without a problem. She was absolutely astounded that this, her password, was what she had to type into the field labelled as “password”. I quickly verified all was working, and went on my merry way.
Fast forward a few hours, I check my phone, which was on silent while I was working out, and I see a voicemail from $user. I check it, and she’s frustrated as ever because now her “Facebook and Google icons” have mysteriously disappeared from Safari, and she doesn’t know what to do. I decided to finish my workout and call her in the AM, since finding one’s “Facebook & Google icons” on a web browser hardly qualifies as an emergency.
